Harp Surfing

My roommate Zina said ‘sea legs’ are like surfing, so this morning I thought about that as I was practicing, keeping a sense of core balance while the ship rocked wildly with conditions described as ‘moderate to heavy, confused 3-4 metre seas’. I lasted a bit longer this time but think I may have to abandon much hope of practice until we reach calm Antarctic waters. This morning all aboard were required to attend a ‘muster’ – a practice emergency gathering on the heli-deck with all our warm gear and life jackets. We were all boiling hot and glad to change out of them, so it’s good to know the ‘kit’ we’ve been supplied with really is calculated for colder temperatures.
